Yup. We decided to skip the desktop and get a second laptop. Right on the day when laptops might be a little closer to obsolete. I for one like keyboards, though. And paper books. So I am happy to stick with this.

It's a Gateway, and a bit bigger than our other laptop, so it won't travel as much. But it has a number pad. I missed that on the Toshiba.

The trick now is to get all the settings right, find all the software I have on the other machine, and learn how to type all over again. But if I could do it before, I can do it again.

I have a number pad on my laptop though I've yet to really use it, but yay for finding something that you like.

If the problem with the old machine was not a hard drive failure, salvaging data from the old machine is possible. (Post conflikt)
