Giving Thanks 2005

sdelmonteThree years ago, I posted a list of all the people I wanted to express gratitude to. And since then, it's become a tradition of mine to revisit the list and update it.
So here's to all the following, as we give thanks yet again...
So thanks to...
- Mark Waid, Bill Willingham, Geoff Johns, Greg Rucka and Brian K. Vaughan, for writing such wonderful comics as usual.
- Joss Whedon, for Serenity and for being so darned good to his fans.
- Rob Thomas, for Veronica Mars.
- Terry Pratchett, for Discworld.
- Donald Westlake, for Parker and Dortmunder.
- Stephen King, for Roland of Gilead, 800 page books worth reading, and the promise of his name on a Marvel comic.
- The gang on the Tony's Online Tips message board.
- The good people at LiveJournal, for this wonderful site.
- All my wacky friends from the Milliways Bar RPG and chatroom, none of whom I knew the first thing about a year ago. Thanks for not just the RP but for the warmth and zaniness and love you all exude at all hours.
- You, the users, posters, commenters and readers at LJ, who expand my horizons, listen to my complaints, share their observations, and make the journey easier.
- The folks at The Jewish Museum, for making life a bit too interesting sometimes, but also for giving me a job that - no matter how much I complain - I still love, fifteen years in.
- The filk community, my home away from home at some of the best cons anywhere, for putting music in my life time and again, and for being some of best and smartest and funnest and warmest people anywhere.
- Rabbi Moshe Rosenberg, my rabbi, who in the past three months has come through time and again in trying to help my family coping with my uncle's illness.
- My cohorts on the kiddush committee, E. the Catering Dwarf and Y. the Tall. This time around, they get extra thanks, as E. has told me he plans to move on at year's end and as Y. hopes to do the same. Everything I know about catering, they taught me. And I doubt I would have made it through some of the more difficult jobs without their support and experience. The kitchen won't be the same once you've moved on, but I think I will manage it because of all you taught me.
- The Dreamer Clan, still crazy after all these years.
- My second family, all those Levins and Gallers, the family I married into and that has made me and all of my original family feel welcome from the beginning, for being my family.
- My first family, for being my family, especially now as we face my uncle's illness.
- The clones, for being family in a way I never expected.
- Sarah C, for being there and for everything you still do.
- Batya, for being Batya.
- And last and certainly not least, God Himself, for all he has given us.
May all out there have a joyous and relaxing Thanksgiving.
