In Memoriam
Oct. 27th, 2005 04:59 pmThree deaths I feel like noting, the first of far more significance...
- Rosa Parks, whose simple refusal go to the back of the bus turned into something far more. She was, perhaps more than anyone, the face of civil right movement.
- Wellington Mara, the part-owner of the New York Giants football team, and one of the most well-liked and respected figures in the New York sports world. Why do I think that if the Giants keep playing like that have, they will be doing it to honor his life?
- William Hootkins, who played Jek Porkins in Star Wars and was also one of the men from Army Intelligence who came to recruit Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark. A minor actor, perhaps, but one whose moment of glory will live on with Star Wars fans for a long time.
