Sometimes I Love My Job
Mar. 11th, 2005 03:26 pmI just came from meeting with the Museum's deputy director for programs. Why? It seems that The Jewish Museum is thinking about taking a show from a California musuem abot innovative comic book artists, including Will Eisner and Jack Kirby. When I heard about this, I told the deputy that I knew a good deal about Eisner and Kirby, about whom she knows nothing.
She is doing a presentation to a board committe about this show. She needed help. So I went and talked with her about The Spirit and the Thing (who is Jewish) and all sorts of cool stuff like that.
So...
1) My geekitude has finally been proven practical;
2) The art world has accepted that comic book art is art; and
3) The Jewish Museum might be doing a show that gives Eisner and Kibry, the two most influential super-hero artists ever, their due.
Sometimes, I love my job.
