Brush Up Your Shakespeare, Twice
Jan. 18th, 2005 10:01 amI'm sure that no one is thinking about spending the day in Central Park today, but soon the lieaves will sprout, the sun will grow warm, and the actors will flock to the Delacorte Theater. For the Public Theater has announced the plays that will be Central Park this summer.
Yes, folks. Plays. For for the first time on several years, two productions will be offered. From June 25 to July 17, it will be "As You Like It." And then from August 9 to September 4, it's "Midsummer Night's Dream." Interestingly, The break between plays coincides with most of the Three Weeks, with Tisha B'Av on August 14, so those of us who schedule trips to the plays around the Three Weeks are in luck.
No word yet about actors, but I will bet we see a good number of big names lining up to be in Midsummer. I'd will even go so far as to expect Bronson Pinchot, who was in two productions in recent years, among Bottom's players (maybe even as Bottom himself).
So think about all this when you bundle up. Midsummer is not too far off.

Yesterday taught me to not go where there are large crowds of people. Meh.
But ... Shakespeare ... Central Park ... *alternately wibbles and bounces* I *so* want to see those two plays. But, well, scared of the crowds. Meh.
