Jan. 3rd, 2005 04:59 pmI read TV critic Matt Roush's columns at TVGuide.com. He's somewhat fannish, with good taste in genre programming, and he seems to know what he's talking about in general. He does an "Ask Matt" column every week, and two weeks back, someone wrote to him complaining about the lack of positive Latino characters on TV right now. I sent him an e-mail about "Lost's" Hurley.

Date: Jan. 3rd, 2005 10:42 pm (UTC)I've also been impressed with Roush as a reviewer. He clearly gets it when it comes to genre stuff; he doesn't dismiss SF or fantasy as bad in and of itself; he really delves into the question of if it's good SF or fantasy.

Date: Jan. 4th, 2005 05:57 am (UTC)And sometimes Extreme Makeover Home Edition uses Latino contractors; they go with whoever is best in the area, and some of them are companies owned and run by latinos. If that's not a positive role model, I don't know what is.
