That's right, folks. Next Thursday, November 18 at 8:30 pm, The Annual Alfred Joyce Kilmer Memorial Bad Poetry Contest will takes place at Columbia. And once again, it's moved. This year - assuming the Philolexian Society's society's webiste is accurate -it will be in the Roone Arledge Cinema at Lerner Hall. (Roone was the man behind Wide World of Sports, Monday Night Football and Howard Cosell. I am trying to figure out if holding Kilmer in a venue named for him is ironic, appropriate, or irrelevant.)

What is this contest? Here's a quote from the aforementioned website...

"The Annual Joyce Kilmer Memorial Bad Poetry Contest
Joyce Kilmer, author of the infamous "Trees," once served as Vice-President of the Society, and every fall we Philos meet to read our own grotesque verse to each other in his honor. All members of the Columbia community are invited to submit up to three works."

I hope to see many of you there, and hope you are all working feverishly on your bad poems.
