Golf Tourney Weirdness
Jun. 21st, 2004 02:59 pmSo I'm watching the US Open for a bit yesterday, and I notice that amateur golfer Casey Wittenberg is done for the day. I had heard of him before, and while I am in no way related to him - I have almost relatives, Jewish or otherwsie by my name - I found it cool that I heard my last name.
But then they showed amateur another golfer, by the name of Spencer Levin. Pronounced La-VEEN. Which is how Batya's family pronounces that last name as well. I don't think we know of any other Levins with that pronunciation. And I cannot name any Jewish golfers, so the idea of a golfing Levin who knows how to pronounce the name our way is also cool.
So you heard it here first. The future of golf in America is named Wittenberg and Levin.
