Hi all. Passover is done, and with it our travels. I'm back at work, where things now begin to gear up for the big Modigliani exhibition coming next month. At the same time, though, the temporary help we hired to get us geared up for the show is leaving for a full-time job. Which means my quiet days are abotu to morph into hectic ones.

Passover was two nights at Mom for sder, two nights at home, and five nights with Batya's family in Atlanta. Oddly, while it certainly felt like a Jewish holiday, it never quite became Passover. The level of words of torah remained low throughout, tamped done at Mom's by having an uncle who cannot deal with long seders, and in Atlanta by a desire not to let the meals run forever so that Batya's grandparents could get to sleep.

It was good to see the grandparents, but a bit jarring to see that (at least away from his home in New Orleans), Grandpa Zolly is getting old. Thank God, it took 90 years before that started to happen, but it's still hard to fathom this tough, stubborn man ever getting old. But thankfully, he's just as tough and stubborn, and his wife, at 82 or so years young, is still the consummate Southern lady, still looking out for him and still setting the table faster than I ever could.

Didn't do much in Atlanta - hard to do anything with the holidays in charge. We did get to go to the Museum of TV and Radio before heading south, though. I've come to the conclusion that they are not really trying to create new programming, though. The screenings for the general public were virtually the same as ones I went to seven years ago during Passover. Never mind that their collection has a woefully small selection of animated programs. But it's nice to find things we haven't seen in ages - "Darmok" from ST:TNG - or that Batya's never seen - an episode of The Muppet Show with Pearl Bailey where "Camelot" is performed using songs from other musicals (since Kermit couldn't get the rights to the real thing).

Odd thing on the flight home: due to the weather in NY, the flight was briefly delayed. But during the twenty minutes we waited, the nine standby passengers on the plane lost their seats, and were replaced by nine other passengers. Does anyone have a clue as to why this would happen?

And then when we landed, I knew we were in NY. The plane had to wait to get a gate. That is, it was looking for a parking space. And then the gangplank to the plane wouldn't hook up. That is, the door malfunctioned, like on a subway. It's bad enough that some airplanes are as cramped as trains as it is.

Hmmm.... According to the screens in the airport folks can be bumbed by others having a higher priority. So if you're (on Delta) a Medallion club member (or whatever it's called) you automatically top someone with less status than you. But I'm not sure if this is just for upgrades or standby also.
