So we saw The Winter Soldier.

I liked it a lot.  It didn't overdo the FX, it had several excellent performances, there were a fair number of twists, and the end of SHIELD is a big change to the MCU.  I wouldn't say it was perfect, and it isn;t a groundbreaking work of art.  But it did what it set out to do.  I would rank it alongside Iron Man 3 as best of the MCU films, though still behind Dark Knight and the original Chris Reeve Superman.

I wouldn't have called it The Winter Soldier, though.  He was a big part of the film, but not enough to justify his name being so prominent.  Not sure what I would have called it instead.

I also have to note that I find myself glad I dropped Agents of SHIELD.  I know it's supposedly gotten better, but it seems pointless for it to exist in the first place.

I actually enjoy Agents of SHIELD -- I've always liked having more information about fictional universes, and it fits the bill.

I've seen some interesting meta about the "Winter Soldier" part actually being important because it's a foil to the larger message -- we don't kill people based on what they might do in the future, especially when we treat them as human beings rather than threats. And I liked his absences: they upped the tension really well for me, and after all, he is a dude who spends most of his own time on ice, out of sight.
