Two Bits of News of Note from SDCC
Jul. 19th, 2013 09:10 amSo for the most part, I don't expect news from San Diego Comic-Con. DC and Marvel rarely announce anything big at this one, and the movie and TV studios are usually interested in promoting stuff we all know about.
But the CW announced a casting development for Arrow. One that has me confused. Read it at your own risk if you consider such things as spoilers. If you want to be confused, too.
Meanwhile, there will be an unofficial gathering held for fans of the late Young Justice cartoon. The show's cast and several of its creative talents will be there. Including Peter David, on the mend from his stroke. And Greg Weisman, one of the show's runners. And in anticipation of the event, Greg was interviewed. And noted that he has a novel coming out in December. Called Rain of the Ghosts. This is thrilling news because it's great to see Greg as a novelist.
But it's also a big deal because 15 years ago - wow, I feel old! - at the annual Gathering of the Gargoyles convention, Greg brought an unproduced script for a new show to called "Rain of the Ghosts" for use in a fan-acted radio play. (I was in the play in a bit part, and I still remember who the leads were.) The show was in development back then, but never happened. And somehow Greg retained the rights. Which is way cool.
So we may, or may not, look forward to more Arrow. And we definitely can look forward to a young adult novel over 15 years in the making.
