We may have lost Joss Whedon on TV, but he have gained him in the comics. Joss will be writing the first yar of a new X-Men book, "Astonishing X-Men," with art by John Cassidy. I haven't cared one whit for the X-Men in ages. But with Joss on board, that's about to change.

This does mean I might have to drop something, or pass up some other news books, but it's Joss. How can I not buy it?

No word yet, BTW, on which mutants are in the book. I hope there's little Wolverine but I doubt it. (Got bored with the over-exposed Logan even before I got bored with the rest of the team.)

I wish he'd write Firefly - would love to get the rest of that story, in whatever format...

Right now, he's working with Universal to produce a Firefly feature film for theatrical release sometime in 2005. If that actually happens and does well, who knows where it will go?

That would be cool, although I suspect a feature film is too short to tell all the open stories, but yes, I guess I can wait that long and see... ;)

When the show was first canceled, he tried to shop it around to another network, but everyone passed. He then attempted to interest someone in a mini-series, but again came up short. The movie pitch was the one that got a buyer, so that's what he went with. How much more we get after the movie depends on how well the movie does. The brisk sales of the series DVD certainly don't hurt.
