- Came home sick.  Can't remember the last time I did that, but I probably should have not gone to work in the first place.  Luckily, I managed to clear the decks enough that if I need to be out tomorrow, I won't fall too far behind.

- I hope that if you are starting Dreamwidth journals, you crosspost back here.  I don't plan on leaving LJ and have found that I had trouble adding DW to my long list of sites to visit in the course of the day and week.  But if you don't crosspost, I understand.

- I suspect that, unfortunately, when LJ looked at the typical user, they found me.  I don't use subject lines, I barely use userpics, I don't pay for my blog, I tend not to preview what I write, and I tend to just shrug at both the bad changes and the bad customer service.  I don't for a second think I am in the majority, but strangely the people at SUP do.  My best guess is that they are far more interested in being Russia's loudest and cheapest anti-Putin blogging site than in being what many of us want.  Either that, or their customer service manual is the same one used by Netflix.

- A reminder, speaking of social network sites, that I can also be found on Google+, if you are inclined to start a stream there.  Same user name, of course.  I haven't found G+ to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I like it.

- A new issue of Fables came out today.  And for the first time since issue 11 - Jack Horner's Civil War backstory - I didn't buy it.  Time was, I loved Fables.  For a while, it was the best comic I was reading.  But it's been slowly going downhill since they revealed the Adversary, and the past year has been especially bland and slow-paced.  There are much better comics to spend my money on.  And if I want to read this comic, I can wait a year or so and get it in collected form from a library.  I hope that sooner or later Willingham can breathe new life into this comic.  But right now, I think it's probably gone on too long.

- On the flip side, I think I am really overdue in raving about Morning Glories, a totally weird comic from Nick Spencer and Joe Eisma, published under Image's Shadowline line.  It lives up to its billing as "Lost meets Runaways," and Image has been superfast to collect the first year's worth of stories, with the second trade coming out more or less at the same time as the 13th issue.  There is always the chance that Spencer will lose control of the story as it moves forward, but so far it's been a really wild and weird and fun ride with great characters and great art and a real sense of suspense.  Oh, and the first trade is only $10 for six issues (include a double sized first issue).  If you are looking for something that is out there and new, and don't want superheroes, give this a try.

- And if you want superheroes, I can recommend a number of DC "New 52" titles, but right now my favorite is Batman and Robin.  Which focuses on Bruce Wayne and his efforts to be a father to the son he had with Talia Al Ghul, Damien.  Remember when it was fashionable to hate Damien, fellow Batfans?  I think those days were behind us before the reboot, but now writer Peter Tomasi has surpassed Grant Morrison in making Damien a character worth following month in and month out.  He can still be annoying, but he can also be very likeable sometimes, and he is always intriguing.  Also, Patrick Gleason's art is the best of any of the myriad Batman books.  If I had to pick one Batman book to read, this one comes ahead of even Scott Snyder's work on Batman.

- Lastly, Happy Hanukkah to those that are celebrating with us, and happy holidays to all!

Curious, has G+ fixed the thing that linked all your gmail accounts? Because I'd really like to keep my fannish email separate from my RL one.

Thank you for posting. I'm always interested in your opinions, even if I don't always respond.
