So I really liked the finale of Doctor Who. I have this feeling that if I spend any time at all analyzing it, it will unravel. But I liked it. Matt Smith remains amazing.

But I have a question related to the plot. Not about the show, though. So the Doctor, having become too famous, has to fake his death in order to keep on fighting. I know there are other places in fiction where heroes fake death for just this reason. But I can't think of them. This ring a bell for anyone out there?

The Spirit by Will Eisner comes immediately to mind.

Mercedes Lackey's Bardic Voices series. I'm sure I've run into others, but I can't think of them right now.

It just occurred to me that Harry Potter may fall into that category.
