So there was a great first issue of a comic this week. Beloved characters, strong script, good story, good art.

Angel and Faith.

It was really good, and bodes well for the overall Buffy Season 9.

But as for the first issue of the brand new rebooted and super-hyped Justice League...

The art was okay. And there were some good characters bits.

But if you want to start an entirely new line of comics, there are much better ways to do it. I found this pedestrian and bland and forgettable. I am sure that new readers aren't likely to be lost. I know that it's only part one of six. But DC can only go up from here.

Oddly, the same Geoff Johns who wrote this also wrote this week's finale of Flashpoint, and the last four pages of that comic had more heart than all of JL 1. Maybe the heart will come later. I sure hope so.

More next week, when I will try eight new 52 titles.

I, not being a long-time comics geek (I just married one), liked this week's JL. I thought Green Lantern was kind of a dick, but I enjoyed it enough that I've asked the husband to keep picking it up from now on.

(Although in part I'm looking forward to future issues in the hopes that GL will get taken down a peg or three. He *really* rubbed me the wrong way.)
