And let us salute the achievements of the many thousands of men and women who made it happen, and remember the 14 astronauts we lost.

There is time for debate about the meaning and value of the shuttles, and about the future of spaceflight, later. Today, we just say, "thanks for everything."

And we look forward to the day, hopefully not too far off, when man soars into space from American soil once more.
