I Shall Wear Midnight

This is the latest Tiffany Aching book, and thus also the latest Discworld novel. It gets off to a slow start, but it really ends well. Things that PTerry did at the beginning that rub me the wrong way are clearly part of the plot and the chain of events, and he spins a strong coming of age tale.
But there is a throwaway line near the end that I am wondering about...The last we see of Eakarina Smith - a face we haven't seen in a very long time - she says she needs to get back to taking care of her son. What's up with that? The son of the witch who is also a wizard? He's bound to be very powerful. But who could he be? Should we assume, from the context of the book, that he plays a role in the story? Is he the Cunning Man? Did her son turn against her in the worst way possible 1,00 years ago? Or is PTerry leaving one last bread crumb for us to follow? This is most likely the last Tiffany Aching book, and sadly we know PIerry hasn't got much time left for many more books. So where is this leading? Anyone care to guess?

Esk's relationship with the Cunning Man is an interesting idea, but because I like people having plots off page, I always chose to think of it as 'Esk just happens to have a son'.
