Hello out there. Batya and I are hoping to brave the wilds of Maryland and attend Balticon on Memorial Day weekend. Thus I post with three things in mind...

1. We need to get there. If there is anyone with a car heading that way and room for two people and a decent amount of luggage, we would love to know. Alternately, does anyone have any advice about buses to Baltimore, and then getting from the bus to the hotel? What are cab fares like from the city to Hunt Valley?

2. Hey, fellow Jews, is there likely to be any sort of Shabbos meal?

3. People in the Balt/Wash area, wanna come and say hello during the course of the weekend, even if you are not looking to attend the con? (Con is at the Hunt Valley Marriott, north of the city, accessible by light rail and then walking.)

Suggestions, thoughts, caveats and other ideas welcome. Thanks!

You are probably much better taking the light rail to Hunt Valley and then getting a cab from there. The light rail stops at a major shopping center (and I bet that's near the hotel, too!) so it won't be hard to find a cab there.

It would be a long shot for me to get up there that weekend, as I'd only be able to spend a few hours with you before hopping on the trains again, but if it looks like I could do so I'll let you know.

(The Hunt Valley rail station, IIRC, is right next to a Wegmans. ♥♥♥ my beloved grocery store!)

What I'm seriously hoping I can do -- though not sure I can do just yet -- is stay with my cousins in Baltimore for at least part of Memorial Day weekend. Should that happen? I am so there. :D!

How much luggage is a decent amount? I have taken one large bag (plus a couple of bags as carry on) via Bolt Bus to a few conventions over the past year. I am planning on using that method again in the near future to go to Boston.
