So after all these weeks of waiting for the next ep of Supernatural, we have to wait another week. The CW, facing a pre-emption in Chicago due to a mayoral debate and in Baltimore due to a college basketball game, and also in the midst of a big push for Vampire Diaries and Nikita, has postponed this week's SPN and Smallville a week. (Extra reruns of those two newer shows will air instead.)

So if you want to blame this on Rahm Emanuel, feel free. :)

I think this only confirms that the CW knows the end is near for SPN, and that it needs to pump up newer shows. It does stink that we need to wait, but I understand the logic.

I am annoyed that SV is pushed back, but I'm not livid about it. However, I really do not understand the CW's logic here as publicly announced. These shows have been pre-empted before. SV and SPN have been pre-emtped before. Never have they knocked out new-to-air episodes of any show to placate two markets (and really, are Chicago and Baltimore that important?). What they've done is re-air the shows on Saturday late afternoon/early evening instead and not disrupt the rest of their schedule.

The only logic here is the rumours that they are, in fact, testing the Friday night waters to replace SV and SPN next season. However, they won't admit that officially and frankly, it's still a shitty thing to do to two fandoms that this network has been coasting on for the past few years. Of course, they stopped caring about SV years ago, so I can't say I'm terribly surprised.
