Green Lantern Trailer

I figure I don't need to link to it, since it's everywhere on the Net. And will be before shown before HP7 in the theaters.

But yes, I saw it. And...well...it doesn't do much for me.

There are a lot of cool fanboy moments. But the FX are not very good. The scenes we see are kind of generic. The acting is bad. Hal is a complete and total jerk, much worse than we ever saw him in the comics.

If I were not a longtime fan of the Corps, if I were just another moviegoer, I would stay home based on the trailer.

Anyone have any thoughts on this matter of great importance?

Hal was always a total and complete jerk.

Trailers are not necessarily representative of the movie. They are done by marketing people. Often they are misleading.

True, but more often than not lately, a trailer sets the tone for the final product for my reaction.

I don't think Hal's as much of a jerk as they could make him. But there's definitely a sense of mildly screwball comedy, which ain't the GL I know and love.

And the acting is okay, I think. Except for Blake Lively. She's very bad. That might've dragged your perception of the whole thing down a touch.

Apart from that, yeah, I'm looking at it the same way I did the Fantastic Four films (which I do like, but also have problems with [most of which are based around the awfulness that is their version of Doctor Doom]): It doesn't look like it'll destroy the franchise, but cah-mon, guys, give us something to work with here.

Best thing about the Fantastic Four films were Michael Chiklis and Chris Evans. The movie version of Doctor Doom left much to be desired, however.

I'm in no rush to see the film. I'll wait on word of mouth to determine when I'll see it.
