Cesil Kohlman Levin, A"H
Dec. 30th, 2009 09:08 amIf you read Batya's blog, you know that her grandmother died last Saturday. Cesil Kohlman Levin's obit can be found here.
I didn't get to know her that well, having seen her maybe a dozen times in the years I knew Batya and her family. But she was, simply put, an amazing woman. If you hadn't told me she was legally blind, I would have never guessed. If you hadn't told me that she was in her 90s, I would not have guessed that, either. She lived life to the fullest, loved her family and her city and her world, and had so many stories to tell because she lived so many of them herself.
I am proud to have known her, and proud to have married into her family. And glad to know that there is definitely a piece of her that lives on in her sons and her grandchildren (especially Batya).
(BTW, the A"H in the subject line stands for "alav hashalom," Hebrew for "may peace be upon her.")
