1. Oh, joy. Decade in Review articles everywhere. Like I want to relive all the fun news stories of the last 10 years. Or the fun gossip.

2. What I really want to see is Y2K ten years later. Remember that? I wonder if, looking back, anyone can say if there was ever any reason to panic. Or if anyone even cares anymore?

3. There is one movie coming I want to see in the theaters, Princess and the Frog. Otherwise, this is a very uninspiring December for me. Avatar looks like another dreary and predictable CGIfest, Sherlock Holmes looks like it might be passable if I can forget the names of the characters, and everything else looks like it was made to win awards.

4. Dollhouse was really good last week, though the plot doesn't really make any sense. Still, I think Joss really started getting the hang of this show at just the moment everyone stopped watching.

5. Anyone hear about DC's next project? New Superman and Batman origin stories in graphic novel form, trying to break away from the 22 page comic at last. JMS to write Supes, Geoff Johns to writes Bats. Could be interesting, and a way to reach new audiences. Which makes sense given how small the readership for even successful comics is now - 125,000 tops, and closer to 70,000 for non-event monthlies.

6. There are five MST3K films on Hulu now. If you've never seen this show and wonder why it has a cult following, now's your chance.

I think the Y2K panic was necessary. It caused a scramble to fix all the Y2K bugs, so when the new millennium came, there weren't huge computer disasters everywhere.

Exactly. This is precisely the problem with averting catastrophes.

I'll add that many companies found their emergency contingency plans, formulated to address possible Y2K failure, very useful on 9/11.

That is exactly how I feel about it. As a Sherlock Holmes purist who has been reading those stories since a really young age, I'm totally horrified by the movie. But as someone who likes all of the actors involved and thinks it looks HILARIOUS -- I want to see it. I think I'll just have to ignore the fact that it's "Sherlock Holmes" and "Watson" and "Irene Adler" and pretend it is, like. Original.

3. I'm dead convinced Sherlock Holmes is going to be like Constantine, ie: not a bad movie, but SO NOTHING like the source material.

4. I just caught up last night and still can't get over how much I love the character of Victor. Or rather, the actor who plays Victor. PLEASE SOMEONE HIRE THE ACTOR WHO PLAYS VICTOR!

I have a weakness for year-end and decade-end articles and magasines :). Curled up with the "Entertainment Weekly" decade-end issue yesterday after school. Johnny Depp and Jon Stewart among Entertainers of the Decade? Works for me.

I agree with you on your movie views, though. It's a rather uninspiring December, though I want to see "The Princess and The Frog", too. "Avatar" will depend on how badly John wants to see it.

I kind of want to see Princess and the Frog, too. It should totally be a Milliways-type-outing.

I'm still waiting for JMS to finish The Twelve.
