I stopped reading. The comic, having gone from Great to Good to Bland to Bad in the past three years, finally arrived at Annoying. And I just quit. I have never done that with any comic, even ones that were much worse.

It's possible - even probable - that Batya will enjoy this issue. But I am done with this series. All the things that went wrong at the end of the TV series are coming back. And they are not worth 3 cents, let alone 3 dollars.

I stopped reading it a while ago, so I'd appreciate spoilers.

Someone asked me why I stopped reading. I said because of the bait-and-switch. It went from season 8 of Buffy, 22 issues to be written by Joss, to an unending comic written by many.

Seconding this in full, although I struggled on until DeKnight showed up.

Funny you should say that, because this issue finally broke me too. No accident that it would be Andrew issue that did it. As I've told Batya, I love her Andrew to bits, but I've always found canon Andrew about as pleasurable as someone spending an hour dragging their nails down a blackboard.

Espenson's written several eps I like, but even Joss's issues were generally disappointing and, despite some early promise from Brian Vaughan, this series has just been bringing out the suck in everyone else.

About the only thing I can say for it is that at least it's not as utterly incoherent as IDW's multiple Angel series have been.

And if you're right about that (and I think you are), that's pretty solid evidence--if anyone still needed any--that Joss has left the Buffyverse firmly behind.
