Smarter Than I Thought I Am?

Remember my Twitter DDOS conspiracy theory? Turns out that I am closer to the truth than I ever guessed. From The NY Times:

"But Bill Woodcock, research director of the Packet Clearing House, a nonprofit technical organization that tracks Internet traffic, said the attack was an extension of the conflict between Russia and Georgia.

It was not clear who initiated the attack, Mr. Woodcock said, but it was likely that “one side put up propaganda, the other side figured this out and is attacking them.” He said he found evidence that the attacks had originated from the Abkhazia region, a territory on the Black Sea disputed between Russia and Georgia."

Weird.

It's the anniversary (or thereabouts) of the Russian-Georgian conflict last year during the Olympics!

We just got back our colleague with the Georgian wife at my slavery (the company he'd gone to has folded, and his job was still free), so I'm hearing more about that one again. He is full of conspiracy theories. He married his then-Georgian girlfriend very spontaneously one year ago.

The thing, of course, is that when it comes to Russia, the conspiracies aren't all that outlandish. Putin and his people are very paranoid as well as very cunning.
