The first issue of the 12-part weekly Wednesday Comics arrived yesterday. It's 15 large format one-page strips with words and art by some pretty big names as well as some newcomers. And it's really huge, larger than most newspapers. At $4, it's a bit pricey, but the art is generally great and some of the strips really offer a lot in one page (and there is only one ad, so they have to make the money elsewhere). The good far outweighs the bad, and everything here is clearly striving to be FUN, though it's really impossible to judge where anything is heading. So I will be back for more next week, and think it's likely I will stick around for all 12 issues.
Red Robin 2 was as good as the first issue. Again, you have to accept the premise and the current interpretation of Tim Drake to enjoy this. But I like the premise and like Chris Yost's take on Tim. I also like the pacing, the art, and the narration. Quite worth my time.
