After having to reinstall my Ethernet port, I was able to get my wireless router activated, thanks in part to a helpful Verizon techie. After two years of sheer frustration with Verizon, service has improved. I am not complaining and wish to acknowledge the good after all the bad.

So our laptop can use our DSL. But the next question is how to make a network of the computers so that we can move files directly from desktop to laptop. Any suggestions?

Haven't worked with Vista, but XP is pretty easy to set up for networking.

Here's an article on getting them to play well with each other.

Sounds like, from the last one, it will be easier for you since you have Pro and Premium instead of the Home versions.

We have all of our music and movies and tv shows stored on one old Dell desktop machine, and we see them from my laptop, Gina's laptop, and the Xbox.

Good luck,

It should be relatively easy and painless. I know XP has a Network Setup wizard which is accessible under My Network Places, and I'm guessing Vista has one as well. And I'm guessing you already have a wireless card for the laptop.

Can you access the DSL from your desktop computer? If not, run the Network Setup wizard and click the appropriate radio buttons when prompted.
