This is clearly a publicity stunt. And I have to say, this is a really bad idea from a storytelling perspective, given how cheerfully silly this is and how dark the real of Marvel's events are. When DC went AU and made Luthor the president, they got a fair number of good stories from. I can't see the same happening here.
No word, however, on who the new DCU president is. I hope it's Obama, though. That universe needs hope, too, after all it's been through. Though who would want to be the president after the ruins likely to be left behind by Final Crisis?
ETA: Never mind. Marvel issued another statement saying Colbert lost after all, to Obama. Good for storytelling, good for acknowledging reality and its meaning, and still a cheap and silly publicity stunt.
