A World Series Thought
Oct. 20th, 2008 09:42 amComing into the World Series, it looks at first glance like the Phils and Rays are similar teams at the moment: good pitching staffs and good bats, on teams that have a lot of spirit and youth. It could be a really good match-up.
But one stat from the regular season stands out: the Phils were 4-11 against American League teams. The reason the Mets were able to get back in the race was that the Phils pretty much blew their lead losing in interleague games. Yes, you can't say that what happened in the regular season is an accurate reflection of where the teams are now. But I have a hunch that we will not see a very competitive series, and that it won't go beyond five games (again) as the Rays run amuck.
