I didn't review the latest issue of Robin. It was pretty good, but reading it after I read All-Star Superman 12, I seemed so run of the mill that I was not inspired to say anything about it. The problem with the superlative comics is that they remind you what comics can be, and sometimes you don't want to praise something that's merely good. Sorry, Robin.

I didn't review Fables 76. It was bland. It had Mike Allred as a guest artist, and his work just doesn't suit this series, and his Pinocchio was totally wrong. Nothing really happened, and nothing was really set up. There was nothing to review. And I am starting to worry that Fables is going to continue to slide from the Must Read it was through Still Engaging but Not Great towards Eh, Why Bother?

I didn't review Messiah CompleX because I don't usually review collections. But I got it from the library so I could read the three issues of X-Factor I would otherwise miss by only buying the X-Factor collections. By and large, it was readable and occasionally fun and certainly not dull. But it was longer than it needed to be, slightly confusing, the latest generation of Tomorrow's X-Men seemed rather interchangeable (and very much like the last two, largely forgotten, younger mutant heroes), and the art was very hit and miss. Still, if you like the X-Men, odds are you'll like this. Surprisingly, I found Scott and Logan more interesting here than I did in Joss' X-book. And if you are an X-Factor fan, you need to read the relevant pages because things of note happen. Oh, and at $40 for a large hardcover that collects what would have cost $39 in installments, it's a great bargain.
