He was one of the good ones. A philanthropist. A dedicated liberal who put his money were his mouth was. A supporter of the arts - he was even a member of my museum at a time. A beloved husband and father.

Oh, and one of the great stars and great actors of the past half century.

He's also one of the few famous New Yorkers I ever saw on the street. Twice. Yes, his eyes really were that blue.

Rest well.

I think this is a good excuse to find the time to find some clips.
