Saw Indiana Jones and Iron Man. Liked both a good deal, thought both looked great, thought both had uniformly strong acting. But didn't think either was all that spectacular, thought both schlepped in places, thought both were sometimes over the top in ways that I had trouble swallowing. Still, there are easily worse ways to spend a day than with old friends and new franchises.

Saw trailers for a lot of things. The Happening looks too creepy for me. The Zohan and Love guru are a one-two punch of bad comedy, making Get Smart look smart by comparison. Hancock could be amazing, could terrible. Hellboy and Dark Knight still look great, and we will probably see those in the theaters. The something coming in the fall called Benjamin Button looked intriguing if predictable.

"The Curious Case of Benajmin Button" is based on a wonderfully poignant short story by... F. Scott Fitzgerald.

We saw the first Hellboy movie the night before we ran the larp Colonel Sebastian T. Rawhide's Circus of the Spectacular. It was perfect -- cheesy enough to relax us, not too terribly deep, but smart enough that a couple of "Why did he--" questions were actually answered. (Why does the bad guy leave the good guy alive to see the Big Ceremony? Actually, that's foreshadowed by his treatment of another good guy earlier. It's a warped gesture of respect. "You've earned the right to know" sort of thing.)

I'm a bit worried about Dark Knight. I don't know if there will be enough plot to go with the explosions and stuff.

We still need to see the new Indy movie and the new Narnia movie.

Speed Racer's a lot of fun!
