This Week's Comics: Booster, Serenity
Apr. 10th, 2008 02:27 pmAs always, spoilers possible.
Booster Gold 8 - In the Max Lord Rules the World with OMACs timeline, things get worse, but as dark as they are, this book doesn't sink into the darkness. Honestly, it can't do that with Booster and Beetle around. A sharp script, good art, good pacing and a sense that the writers are in firm control once again make what could have been a depressing mess surprisingly fun.
Serenity: Better Days 2 - The gang takes a vacation to a resort planet and ponders their fantasy uses for the money they just got. Too bad both the person they ripped off and an Alliance assault team are on their way. This is probably the single best issue of a Serenity comic so far. It's not as deep as we might like, but everything clicks, the fantasies don't get too silly, and there really is something of a plot. Too bad next issue is the end.
