Synchronicity of the Cons?

OK, so we all know that next week is The Gathering, the annual fan-run Gargoyles con, returning to NYC. But next week is also, by a strange quirk of fate and location, a major for-profit media and comic book convention, something fairly unusual in NYC and larger than anything of its kind in ages here, is taking place the same weekend at Madison Square Garden. Across the street from the hotel that The Gathering is at, the Hotel Pennsylvania

Now, of course this means that I will not be able to attend the larger comic con, but just because some of my favorite writers and artists are there, it's not like I would actually go. :)

But there's more. The Hotel Pennsylvania is serving as the host hotel for any guest the comic con is flying in. One of those guests is Nichelle Nichols, aka Uhura on some old TV show i used to watch. but she was also a guest voice on Gargyoles, playing the mother of Det. Eliza Maza on more than one occasion. I saw this and thought, "hmmm, maybe we should track her down and offer her a refuge from the crazed Trekkies for a while, let her meet the crazed Gargoyles fans."

Well, guess what? According to the Gathering web site, Ms. Nichols will be attending the banquet at the end of the con and probalby doing a brief Q&A. OK, this could change - The Gathering has lost two of its guests due to schedule changes - but I must ask, "how cool is that?" Gald to see that someone else must have had the same idea as I did. Now if only we could find a way to connect Gargoyles with some of the other comic con guests. Anyone know if Brian Michael Bendis was secretly a writer for Gargoyles?

I do feel sorry for the hotel staff. Freaks to the left, freaks to the right, and not even the same freaks!

I would love to go to the Gathering, but I'll be in Kosovo until mid July. It sounds like you'll be enjoying a good time. I also have soemthing for you and Batya, as well as Constance and Kellie (though she'll be in Orlando) and I wanted to give it to you at G03, then my deployment got extended :( Well, I'll be in NYC in late August so hopefully you'll be in the area, then.
