Back from Lunacon

Hey all. Lunacon is over, and we are home, quite pooped.

My panels went pretty well, though the "Why Pirates Are Popular Again" panel quickly demolished the very idea of the conversation. The three comics panels were fun, especially the "10 Best and 10 Worst Moments in Comics History" discussion, wherein the "Advantageous!" reared its ugly head for the time in ages.

I got to see a small number of people I haven't seen in a while, and a few I saw at Boskone or at the last housefilk. Plans for Friday night dinner and for the Saturday morning Torah reading went well. And overall, it was a good con, though I think that Lunacon really needs to shake things up a bit as it seems pretty much the same every year.

And now, with the con done, we move onto Purim, Passover, and Contata (oh, and lots of projects at work that I won't bore you with).

The premise was that pirates are everywhere again in fiction. And while PotC has left a renewed interest in all things piratical (including the real, not-so-nice pirates of the past) and we have things like Talk Like a Pirate Day, neither I nor my fellow panelists could really think of anything in fiction beyond a few minor short stories and a few pirates in passing like those in Stardust.
