So it's been announced that this spring, there will be a second Supernatural prequel comic. Same writer - producer Peter Johnson - but a new artist, Diego Olmos, whose work I don't know but has handled some Bat-duties along the way.

i'm glad that the first SPN comic sold well enough that there is a second one. But the first wasn't that good. And because of the WGA strike, Eric Kripke cannot help at all. (This says, BTW, that if Johnson is allowed to write the comic, he's not a member of the Guild and not a writer, which we sorta guessed.) But it sounds interesting, and it will be there when the show isn't once again.

Do I think about buying it, knowing that at best it will probably not be that great, and that at worst it's sort of like crossing the picket lines since WGA rules don't allow writers to do anything for the studio? Or should I skip it and if the buzz is good, get the collection later?

Thoughts?

I'm going to propose that any money being made off the bat from a SPN product is going to help the show. Also, it's probably going to improve by leaps and bounds simply because there's more Dean and Sam -- I thought that little mini-insert with the two of them was the best thing about Origins, and I was dying to see more of the boys.

Interesting that he's altering the TPB because of the Impala. I'd be interested to see what changes he makes.

...oh. Dammit.

Well, even if it turns out to be mediocre, I'll still probably be buying them off the rack, I think. I don't support the show financially in any other way (hello, torrents!), and it's been ages since I've found a series to follow, especially now that we're almost at the end of Y. It's my understanding that a fourth season is kind of implicit at this point, given the strike, but I don't want to leave any wiggle room, you know?

I thought the WGA strike wasn't covering comics? Or is this under the strike because it's a tie-in thing?

Curiously,
Ana

Has the WGA really said that its members should not write tie-in comics of TV shows? This sounds like a question for Mr. Evanier.
