The news? Depressing, but that's not new.

Sports news? Also depressing. And not because of what is happening on the field. That IS new. How can I get diversion from reality when the sportswriters don't help?

My f-list? Not great either. In one case, downright BAD, though not as bad it could have been. In another, sad news about a beloved writer. On a third, sad news about a noted filker.

It's still Hanukkah. I should not be so gorram down today.

I am SO glad I have a few crappy old comic book collections to read today. Reading old Jimmy Olsen stories? That's gotta help.

You'd think that would be easy for them, being so disconnected from reality themselves, and all....

That's part of the problem. When they write about steroids or Michael Vick or anything that requires a real journalist (which I admit barely exists anyway), they have no clue how to report in anything but hyperbole.

I've actually got a couple of not-bad-news posts that aren't ready to post yet 'cause I'm just too tired... but no bad news here for now, unless you count the usual December cold for me & a bunch of my colleagues and the usual pre-holiday-break wackiness affecting (infesting?) the students.
