One More Article on the Writers' Strike

Here is a column from Entertainment Weekly that explains why the film and TV writers are right to strike, while presenting a slightly bigger picture that takes the WGA to task for some of its miscues. In other words, it's a balanced report that reaches the same conclusion a lot of us have.

And this will be my last word on the topic. There isn't much to add at this point, is there?

There is plenty you can add as the weeks go by. Remember that during this strike, we'll all be relying on the Internet for our entertainment. So we must all do our part to entertain each other. I'm thinking that you can pick up the slack and offer witty commentary on the strike when Mark Evanier gets tired. :-)

I would never try to replace, substitute for, or otherwise displace Mark Evanier. And he never gets tired.

Besides, we can always rely on comic books for entertainment. We can even photograph them, do voiceovers, and make crude cartoons the way Marvel did in the 60s.

Or we can read all the comics Marvel is putting up on their web archive, assuming we can get it to work.

Speaking of comics, don't forget I need a YES/NO from you on Batman & the Outsiders....

Qualified yes? As a friend put it, "Dixon is always readable but will it be good?" The art is great, and the story is entertaining, well paced and well scripted. But it's likely that this isn't Dixon's book just yet, and that the bumps along the way are because he took over at the last minute. So I will give it time.

But compared to a lot of DC books I've been reading, this is real good. However, then I read Booster Gold, and Booster is still better. (No surprise there.)
