So remember that scene in Galaxy Quest where Alexander Dane has just saved the lived of the Thermian crew, and enters, and everyone is grateful not to him but Captain Taggart?

In the NYC papers and on the radio today, the Red Sox, winners of the World Series in convincing fashion, are Dane, and Alex Rodriguez, who announced he's leaving the Yankees right after the game ended, is Taggart.

A-Rod is the best player in baseball. And a jerk. I'm not a Yankee fan, but I wanted to see him stay here and try to make his mark with one of the great teams. Instead, he's clearly just looking for the next big paycheck. And the attention that goes with it. He couldn't wait two days to tell the world he's moving on? He couldn't let the Sox have the glory unintruded on?

So, I say "enough!" And thus...

Congrats to the Red Sox on their victory. The curse is dead, and the Sox are clearly a deserving champs. Congrats also to all their loyal fans, who might finally have to get used to winning. Often.

Classy post, Alex. :D As for Rodriguez, I think it's probably fairer to blame Scott Boras than it is to blame him, as much as I loathe both of them. I want to say I can't believe that the announcement was made when it was -- but I can, because of who's involved. Hell, Boras let the cat out of the bag before game 4 was even over. What a slimeball manuever.

Um... I know the sentiment was different, but I have to point out that you talked about A-Rod for the majority of the post. And only spent three short sentences praising the Red Sox.

Point taken though. ;)
