We were at the wedding of our buddy E. the Catering Dwarf. Some you know him, and a couple of you were there, as well. He's someone I've known since he was 16, and it was a delight to be there, and to celebrate with him and his family.

But boy am I tired, and sore. As some of you know, dancing at an Orthodox Jewish is unorthodox. It's separate genders, and high energy. And usually consists of going in circles. Sometimes the circles are slow. Sometimes they are fast. And we dance in chain, which means that sometimes arms are overtaxed. It was worth it, but I once slightly separated a shoulder at a wedding.

There is a tradition to introduce the bride and groom for the first time as such, to music. It used to be in vogue to use the opening from "The Final Countdown." E. had a better idea. He and his new wife came in to the opening fanfare from Superman. I wish I'd done that.

Strange thing, though. The band occasionally played instrumental non-Jewish music during the reception. A good deal of Beatles and Billy Joel. And right before the bride and groom entered, they played "Summer Highland Falls." Is it me, or is that not the best choice for the circumstance?
