They've changed the title of the film. Again. It's now just "The Seeker."

And they've changed...well, pretty much everything.

I finally read the book. I am not a huge fan, but dear lord, cn they possible get anything else wrong? In a way, the change of the title is a relief, as it gives Susan Cooper a lot of room to say "this carp is not my book!"

I suspect she'll be doing that a lot.

Yeah, she pretty much said that in a NPR interview on Monday. The director or screenwriter (or both) defended changing the protagonist to an American 13-year-old because a British 11-year-old who suddenly discovers he can do magic and must fight an evil force might seem like a rip-off to people who didn't know the book was 30 years old. Also they say the boy is pretty ineffectual in the book and someone else defeats the enemy in the end.
Don't know. Hadn't heard of it before I saw the first commercial.

It's probably just as well that they aren't using the title from the original story, given that they aren't using much of anything else either....
