Why is it that when an athlete is accused of assaulting a woman, or worse, there aren't protests and demands that the player be cut. Or if there are, no one takes them seriously.

But when you abuse dogs, it's the worst crime ever?

This is not to condone dogfighting. It's wrong and it's illegal, and savage and barbaric. And Michael Vick deserves his jail time. But I think that we have a skewed sense of priority when we get more angry about animal abuse than human abuse.

I think - and this is just me, here - that there is more of a hue and cry because dogs/animals have no voice, and therefore no ability to lie or manipulate. Their suffering is obvious and irrefutable, whereas women are always doubted because we are able to tell lies and manipulate.

To be completely honest I think it's because that no matter what the charge or circumstances against a woman there are enough people who will still look at the charges and go, "Oh, she was probably asking for it."
