So, now that LJ's back, here are some things of note in the world of pop culture...

- Famed cinematographer Laszlo Kovacs has died. Kovacs was best known for his work on Easy Rider and Ghostbusters.

- Eric Kripke talks about next season's Supernatural and offer reassurances to nervous fans

- Farscape returns. As webisodes. But will Ben Browder?

- Zachary Quinto is thisclose to signing to play Mr. Spock. Expect further word about this (and many other movies and TV shows) this weekend from SDCC.

- Comics retailer Brian Hibbs analyzes sales of DC Comics' Countdown and proves that I'm not the only one who stopped buying it. This is sobering news for DC.

That last article is fascinating. I've been buying Countdown because I know it's vital to the whole question of where the Multiverse is going to go next. In its good weeks, the book ties in very tightly with the weekly continuity in other books. But I agree that if the book doesn't appeal to the reader, it might impact the rest of the line badly.

I think I might give Countdown another couple of weeks, but I can't see it getting any better. And last week I dumped Teen Titans and anything else having to do with the incomprehensible 'Amazons Attack' arc. The Sinestro Corps is working for me, but that's it.

I'd heard that Browder would be available for the Farscape episodes. Not confirmed, but enough to offer a quiet 'yay' about.

And I guess I'll be pulling Easy Rider down from my movie shelf this weekend for a memorial viewing. Mr. Kovacs deserves it.
