Random Thoughts on a Sunday
May. 2nd, 2010 07:00 pm- Still loving the new Doctor, but with a few reservations. Matt Smith and Karen Gillen continue to be awesome, even if the stories and direction worry me a touch.
- With two weeks to go on Supernatural, I remain less impressed than most of you. But I am still in, and realized that for a show in its fifth season, it's not doing that badly. I was much grumpier about season five of Buffy. And Smallville.
- Finally saw Alice in Wonderland today. A very, if you pardon the word, curious film. A lot to like but some oddness that seemed a bit short of what I wanted from Burton and some unnecessary (if pretty) 3D effects. Not one of Burton's best, but also a lot better than some of his worst.
- Found the trailer for Jonah Hex. Dear lord, that looks awful. Generic action, nonsensical story, and a sense that no one involved ever read a single issue of the comic.
- Saw the trailer for Tron: Legacy as well. Can they possibly turn what was a total flop in my youth into something cool? And isn't it kinda cool that Jeff Bridges was a nobody then and a big enough star now that you think, "hey, maybe if he's in this, it won't suck"?
