A Sad Day in Bedrock
Dec. 19th, 2006 09:04 amAs you might have seen, Joe Barbera, one half of the animation team of Hanna and Barbera, has passed away at ripe old age of 95.
I grew up with the Flintstones, Yogi Bear, and Scooby Doo. I discovered the DC Universe through the adventures of the SuperFriends. I watched reruns of everything they produced in the 60s, from Space Ghost to the Jetsons. And I watched their original award-wnning creations, Tom and Jerry, wreak mayhem without a word.
Some of these shows stand the test of time. Others don't. But almost all are beloved, and have inspired generations (even if I doubt that Barbera ever quite got Harvey Birdman, Attorney, or Space Ghost Coast to Coast).
Rest in peace, Joe.
