The rebooted computer is now a work in progress.  We have installed AVG anti-virus software, have been reinstalling programs lost to the crash, and have been trying to figure out what is safe to delete from the defunct programs.  Next up, getting a physical firewall and getting into broadband (probably Verizon).

At the same time, we have been having the oddest trouble with AIM.  We think are hooked up properly.  We are even in chat, and all seems fine.  But it's not.  To our buddies, we seem to have logged off, and then logged back on a few minutes later.  The techie at AOL thinks it's a network problem, but that it started after we reinstalled AOL makes me wonder.  So if you ping me or Batya, and we seem to vanish in mid-conversation, we are probably still there.  With any luck, this will be fixed soon, but who can say with AOL?  (Is anyone else having AIM problems?)

More to come...

They had Stan Lee.  And Kevin Smith.  And JMS.  And George Perez.  And Jeff Smith.  And a lot of big names.  But today the 2nd New York Comic Con added a name bigger than all of them...

Stephen King.

Yes, only for one panel to talk about the Dark Tower comic.  But still...

Stephen King.

Why, oh why is everything happening at this con on a Saturday?  (Not that I would want to face the mob scenes.)

If nothing else, this is further evidence that Mr. King is fully behind the Dark Tower comic, even if he's not the writer.  That bodes well.

Whether this year's con will be any less of a mob scene, though, I can't say.
