Blue Screen of Death! HELP!
Dec. 7th, 2006 08:45 amSo this morning, AOL asked me if I want run its anti-spyware package. I say yes, and it finds a lot of spyware on my machine. Seems good so far.
Then it tells me it needs to restart. I say Yes.
That was a mistake (though maybe running the anti-spyware in the first place).
The computer restarts but goes to the Blue Screen of Death. I have the following Stop message:
STOP! 0x0000001E (0xC000005, 0x8049AFC6, 0x00000000, 0x00000004)
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
...Address 8049AFC6 base at 80400000, DateStamp 3ee6c002 - ntoskrnl.exe
It tells me to try to run the machine in Safe Mode. I try every possible option of safe mode and retrun each time to the Blue Screen.
Does anyone out there have any idea what is wrong with my computer? Or any idea how to fix it when it won't let me do a thing? Is there a way to make a rescue disk or reinstall Windows without being able to get to a prompt?
Any and all suggestions for help would be greatly appreciated. Our old computer is still hooked up and (IIRC) still has a working modem, so we are not without any Net access at home, but it's old and balky and slow, and it would be much better if I can get the current machine working.
HELP!
Thanks.
