Giving Thanks 2006
Nov. 23rd, 2006 06:35 amFour years ago, I posted a list of all the people I wanted to express gratitude to. And since then, it's become a tradition of mine to revisit the list and update it.
So here's to all the following, as we give thanks yet again...
So thanks to...
- Mark Waid, Bill Willingham, Geoff Johns, Greg Rucka, Grant Morrison and Brian K. Vaughan, for writing such wonderful comics, week in and week out.
- Joss Whedon, for everything he's done and for the upcoming Buffy Season 8 comic and taking over Runaways.
- Rob Thomas, for Veronica Mars.
- Eric Kripke, for Supernatural.
- Russell T. Davies, Chris Eccleston, David Tennant and Billie Piper, for reinventing Doctor Who.
- Terry Pratchett, for Discworld.
- Donald Westlake, for Parker and Dortmunder.
- Stephen King, for Roland of Gilead, 800 page books worth reading, and a Dark Tower comic under his supervision.
- Lois McMaster Bujold, for the Vorkosigans.
- The gang on the Tony's Online Tips message board, still the most cordial board on the Net.
- All my wacky friends from the Milliways Bar RPG and chatroom. Thanks for not just the RP but for the warmth and zaniness and love you all exude at all hours.
- You, the users, posters, commenters and readers at LJ, who expand my horizons, listen to my complaints, share their observations, and make the journey easier.
- The folks at The Jewish Museum, for making life a bit too interesting sometimes, but also for giving me a job that - no matter how much I complain - I still love, sixteen years in.
- The filk community, my home away from home at some of the best cons anywhere, for putting music in my life time and again, and for being some of best and smartest and funnest and warmest people anywhere.
- Rabbi Moshe Rosenberg, my rabbi, as well as the people at my shul who have helped me make things smoother for everyone as I keep making the kiddushes happen every Shabbos.
- The Dreamer Clan, still crazy after all these years.
- My second family, all those Levins and Gallers, the family I married into and that has made me and all of my original family feel welcome from the beginning, for being my family.
- My first family, for being my family, and especially its newest member, Nili Yoseefa
- The clones, for being family in a way I never expected.
- Sarah C, for being there and for everything you still do. (And also Ovadyah, for being Sarah's brand new husband!)
- Batya, for being Batya.
- And last and certainly not least, God Himself, for all He has given us.
May all out there have a joyous and relaxing Thanksgiving.
