I feel like I should write something about Katrina and the horrific aftermath. But you know what's going on. You know what you are feeling. You don't need to me to rehash this.
And while I have my POV about what should be done, what isn't being done, and so on, I really don't feel like pointing fingers.
So all I can say is this: GIVE.
Find one of the hundreds of organizations that is contributing to relief efforts and give. It doesn't have to be much. Think about this: let's assume there are 200 million adult Americans who could make a donation of $10. That would be $2 billion! Not enough to do everything that's needed, short-term or long-term. But think about what that could do.
I would like to suggest that when you pick a charity, think about the Red Cross. Aside from the lead role they take in disaster relief time and again, our friend
camwyn has gone to Baton Rogue to serve as a volunteer in the effort. She's giving of her time. The least we can do is honor her and all the others helping by making a donation to the Red Cross.
If anyone has a charity they would like to recommend in addition, feel free to tell me, so that others who read this can see.
But who you give to is less important than that you give.
Thanks.
