I had very little in the way of plans for my week off from work last week. And yet, I managed to do a lot, and managed to get quite relaxed and had some fun as well.

So what did I do?

- Attended a housefilk last Sunday at the home of mamadeb and jonbaker. Good music, good food, lot sof fun. Thanks to the Bakers for hosting.

- Helped a friend pack and move last Monday and yesterday. Fun? No. Necessary? Yes. And while I am afraid I wasn't much help last Monday, I was able to help a bit when I normally would be at work.

- Got routine check-ups from my GP and my dentist. Always a good thing to do.

- Saw the Matisse and Fabrics show at the Met. This show focuses on the influence that the fabrics Matisse owned had on his painting. Soem very pretty fabrics, and some nice paintings. But sort of small. And I am apparently not a Matisse fan since none of his work bowled me over.

- Got to meet Becca, aka bookelfe in the Milliways chatroom, in NYC for one afternoon only.

- Got to see Batya's cousin Shoshana, who was only around Friday morning.

- And got to see a preview screening of a certain film. A film that opens September 30. A film that many of us have been waiting for with eager anticipation. But as it doesn't open till September 30, look not to me for spoilers. Not that I don't want to blab. But it wouldn't be fair to the film's cast or director to ruin the surprises. So for now I remain serene. (BTW, it's really good. But that's all you get out of me.)

What I didn't do much of was play at Milliways. I missed my usual amount of RP, but I think it was also good to scale back for a week. It's good to remind myself I can avoid letting the game be an obsession, and good to let my characters have some time off so that my play can be refreshed sometimes.

That said, it was nice to be in the chatroom a couple of times when I'm normally not, and to meet or catch up with unfamiliar players. And it's nice to be back in the game today, though of course I should be working. (Odd how I can be away for a week, and still not be too busy. Guess it's still August.)

And above all else, it's good to be relaxed, even if only until the next headache at work blossoms.
