More? Yes, just a comment about something that may or may not be the case in a comic I skimmed but don't buy.
What I did buy first...
Countdown 45 - Dull. And get duller. Plus the character of the year, Forerunner, who is already annoying after one appearance. I think this is it for me. I said I'd give this book two months. But it's not working. I doubt it ever will. And it's the centerpiece of the DCU? That's not good.
The Brave and the Bold 4 - Supergirl. Lobo. Waid. Perez. Better than it should be. Very much an old-fashioned super-hero romp of the kind that DC doesn't like to do that often now. But fun. All in all, worth my time.
And now the comment. This week is the last issue of the new Flash comic. It seems that DC intended to cancel it all along at this point, and bring back the old one. Oh, and to kill Bart Allen. This means that the "Mark Waid is coming back, woohoo!" isn't as good as I thought it was, because it also means that DC is: a)busy screwing with the fans in launching a new series and a new Flash that they secretly planned to cancel fast; and b) DC has once again killed off a younger hero with potential and a fan base. First Superboy, and now Bart. I suppose the only good news is that Jason Todd didn't stay dead, so they might come back, too. But this is no way to treat the fans. Who's the Flash? It's Wally, no it's Bart, no it's...we are telling. It's cynical and crude and nasty.
Now I'm not totally upset because I didn't want to see Bart as Flash just yet, and because Waid, Bart's creator, must have had some approval of this and must have felt that his story could end. But it gets tiresome. Must we have one character death after another? Can't we go one month without someone we like being killed by the big two? It gets depressing. And dull. And painful. And annoying.
I hope Waid has something good up his sleeve to make this worthwhile. At this point, I'm not sure even he can fix the editorial mess called DC Comics.
Oh, and isn't it great being Tim Drake? Spoiler, his father, Superboy and now Bart. And Didio wanted to kill Nightwing. Is there some reason Tim is supposed to be the saddest little hero on Earth?

And I liked Bart a lot. I think the only thing to be grateful about here is that they're using Wally, not Barry.
